The Barla Kunta Lake project spanning 2019 to 2021 has seen major changes within its development after its adoption by United Way Hyderabad. A highly polluted lake which had sewage lines leading directly to it alongside a hefty quantity of algae and erosion, there was no doubt that both the lake and the land around it would have been deemed a wasteland in a few years if United Way Hyderabad had not intervened. With the assistance of organizations such as J.C Morgan and GHMC, United Way Hyderabad has managed to ensure 100 percent sewage water diversion and 90 percent weed cleaning alongside many other such statistics. Over a span of 2200 volunteering hours, UWH has managed to turn the dreaded situation of the Barla Kunta Lake and bring it to a waterbody that can now sustain life.
