United Way of Hyderabad's school transformation projects focus on addressing key infrastructural needs in government schools, to create a safe holistic learning environment for all students

As per the U-DISE+ Report (2020-21) student dropout rate has risen to 14.6% in India. Lack of attention paid to rural education, maintenance, and upkeep of school buildings in rural areas, issues of safety and security due to lack of boundary walls, unclean toilets, lack of sanitation disposing facilities, recreational items, and playground safety, all play a major role in deterring parents from sending their child to school. Parents prefer quality education from an educational institution that is well-maintained and safe for their children

This is why the repair and restoration is an important aspect for United Way of Hyderabad in curtailing dropout and retaining students in formal educational institutions. A safe school infrastructure with well-maintained facilities including clean and sanitized toilets, proper drinking water storage, and hygienic preparation of mid-day meals instills confidence in children, parents, and teachers. This assurance allows parents to send their children to school without any apprehension or hesitation
