We engage with farming communities to explore the close interconnections between environmental and economic sustainability of agriculture. A major challenge posed by the changing climate is increasing vulnerability of crops to biotic & abiotic stresses, greatly increasing incidences of crop failure & loss of income. Like most other phenomena, this affects small & marginal farmers most severely.
Our program portfolio focuses on training of farmers & implementation of crop diversification initiatives through agroforestry. We also provide avenues for better postharvest management of crops, through value addition to reduce wastage of food due to perishability and market fluctuations. We also provide support for advanced mechanization with precision agriculture technologies, to reduce the environmental footprint of farming through optimized use of pesticides, fertilizers & water in farm operations.
