Dr. Rajat Kumar IAS

Chief Secretary (FAC) Environment, Science & TechnologyDr. Rajat Kumar is a senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service, currently working as the Special Chief Secretary to Govt. of Telangana, Irrigation & Command Area Development Dept, and, Environment, Science & Technology Department. In the past he has worked in various policy making and policy implementing positions with the state and central governments in India, as well as on independent consulting assignments in the United States and Europe. Dr. Kumar is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology and holds a Master’s Degree from Harvard University in Public Administration and International Development.
He has also earned a Doctorate in Economics from Osmania University, Hyderabad, where he stood first in the entire university. He is a recipient of various awards including the Asia Pacific Environmental Fellowship in 2003 and the Joint Japan World Bank Fellowship in 2005. He is an avid traveler and has visited over 30 countries in his official and personal capacity. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, hiking and reading.
