Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Nodal Officer FCA Telangana

Mohan Chandra Pargaien is a senior Indian Forest Service Officer of Telangana State and currently serving as Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF), Telangana. Mr Pargaien has worked as DFO of Paloncha and Kaghazanar Divisions, Conservator of Forests Hyderabad, Field Director of Amrabad Tiger Reserve, Special Secretary Pollution Control Board. He has also served the government of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at various capacities in Tribal Development Department, Municipal and Urban Dev Department and Environment and Forest Department.

He also writes on various environmental matters in national dailies like The Hindu, Indian Express, and other online portals and magazines regularly. His blog on “Resilience and better life with urban forests in Hyderabad” in  World Forestry Congress South Korea was among the top 3 blogs.  He has also delivered talks at the recently held “UNDP Nature For Life Hub 2022”  in November 2022 and recently at “IUCN- CEM Dialogue” on 18th February 2023. His areas of interest are Forest Land Restoration, Nature-Based Solutions, Climate Change and environmental awareness and protection. He is an active member of Member IUCN-CEM and also one of the PANORAMA Ambassadors of 2023.

His Special contribution/Achievements include:
a)Promoted low cost water harvesting structures under Watershed programme as an livelihood alternatives for rural farmers of Cuddapah – (1999-2001)
b)Successfully implemented World Bank Aided A.P. Forestry Project duly involving local forest dependent communities through Joint Forest Management Committees (1994-1997) in Kaghaznagar and later on World Bank Aided “A.P. Community Forestry Management Forestry Project” (2001-2004).
c)Associated with launching of Cloud Seeding Project and Bio-Diesel Plantation Programme in A.P.
d)Associated with initial conceptualisation of flagship Programme of Telangana ‘Telangana Ku HarithaHaram” as Special Secretary EFST in 2016.
Launched “Tiger Calling “ in Amarbad Tiger Reserve to bring awareness among the school children of the fringe villages of Tiger Reserve.(2016-17)
